As part of this initiative we developed a free toolkit, designed after thousands of hours of workshops, trainings, projects and professional expertise in the area of operational, product and experiential aspects of sustainability in business and organizations. The toolkit has been designed to support the assessment and action-oriented approach to transforming business practices to be more sustainable.
There are three main activity areas where organizations have impacts and thus present the main opportunities to make change within.
Operations: covers inputs that the company consumes in order to do business (like energy, water and procurement), and outputs like waste generation as well as carbon emissions produced from travel.
Products: covers all aspects of the produced products and services created by the company as part of their offering into the economy. These have significant supply chain and natural resource impacts and should be considered in relation to full life-cycle product stewardship.
Experiential: are the services, culture and customer-facing offerings that the organization creates and fosters both with customers and with employees.
Sustainability can be complex and overwhelming at times. But by understanding the terminology, methods, and best practice assessment tools, you can take action and design the approaches that will work best in your industry and organization.
